I've been remiss in blogging! First the kids got sick and I've been dealing with that. Then last Saturday I smacked my head and gave myself a mean mean concussion. We're all healthy and today is my first non headache day in a week! So I decided to update my blog!
Not really much has gone on I'm working on blankets to send to hospitals and I mailed out a huge package for Nationwide Children's Hospital CTICU and a box of stuff to IU Hospital North (also called Riley North) I had to cancel my violin lesson this week because I just didn't feel like going at all. Now for other news my violin Genesis and I've been having some issues.
I don't think I've shared photos of myself but I'm very thin and bony. One thing is my collar bone on the left hand side protrudes quite a bit and my violin's chin rest has these little metal parts that dug RIGHT into my collar bone. I was telling my friend about this issue and she told me 'oh it has to be you holding your violin wrong' but that's not it at all. Everyone is shaped differently and I'm just a bit odd shaped. My next issue was the chin rest itself? Would dig RIGHT into my wind pipe and cause a weird feeling when I played. So I ordered a new chin rest and a very padded chin rest cover.
This is the chin rest I ordered for Genesis
It's very different from the conventional chin rests which come on violins. This is the chin rest that was on Genesis
See the lump that comes up over the tailpiece? With how I'm built that was digging directly into my neck and the little metal grommets were digging into my collar bone.
I've also ordered this pad which will keep the metal from digging into my neck
Hopefully with these changes playing the violin will be much much more comfortable for me. YAY for comfort lol
